Lucky Los Angeles.

Darren Criss will join Team StarKid for not one but TWO appearances this week. On Wednesday he’ll open for the group with a solo acoustic set, and on Thursday he’ll join the troupe for their entire Apocalyptour show. Tickets are still available to both through the Team StarKid site.

Jane Lynch issued a call to stop planning, fiercely embrace the world, and fight to make it better in her commencement address to the Smith College class of 2012 today.

In a speech highlighting women and weaving together her own college graduation, her time at The Second City (“the improvisational breeding ground where Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Rachel Dratch and Nia Vardolos, along with some guys you might recognize, got their start”), thoughts on being in a relationship, on being a parent, and her knowledge of Smith women (her wife, Lara Embry, is a Smith alumna), Lynch advocated a life philosophy of “YES AND.” She urged the graduates to use this idea of embracing opportunities—to only engage the power of “NO WAY” out of good judgement, rather than out of fear.

Check out the video to hear Lynch talk about how she discovered the idea of “YES AND” through her introduction to improv at The Second City and about getting caught with her pants down.

This is not a cheerocracy.

We can’t decide if we should be excited or appalled by this, but either way it calls for a re-watching of Bring It On.

Marketing Campaign of the Day: A new campaign called “Freedom to Serve, Freedom to Marry” — whose debut video will give you chills — takes aim at the Defense of Marriage Act and its impact on gay and lesbian military families. The video follows the devastating trajectory of a lesbian relationship when one of the women serves in Afghanistan.

Evan Wolfson, the founder of Freedom to Marry, one of the organizations behind the campaign, spells it out for us:

Many people assume that, with the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” gay men and lesbians serving our country are now being treated fairly and equally, but that’s not the case. We ended the ban on open military service for gay and lesbian Americans, but there is still federal ban on treating married service members as what they are: married.

Richter and Criss almost shared screen time again, and in a way that would have almost certainly set social media fandom aflame — last Fall Richter read for a Glee role, the new villain on the block Sebastian, who had his eyes romantically set on Criss’s Blaine character and has recently transformed into a menace for the whole of McKinley. It wasn’t meant to be, but the roommates had a laugh when Criss found Richter’s audition materials at home.

“For a day or two, I was like ‘I want this so bad,’” Richter laughed. “I wanted to be the bad guy. Darren saw the sides and he goes, ‘Dude, that would be so cool. And that would be so weird!’”
